Bailey Joinery from the beginning to present day
My journey into joinery began in 2005, when I started a Modern Apprenticeship with a local building firm. From the very beginning, I wasn't content with simply learning the trade, I wanted to become the best craftsman I could be. I was fortunate to work alongside joiners who had spent a lifetime perfecting their craft. They taught me that the difference between good and exceptional is found in the smallest details, and those lessons still influence every project we create today.
After achieving my Advanced Joinery qualification, I moved into a specialist interiors company, where my passion for bespoke fitted furniture truly developed. Working on kitchens and interior projects showed me that precision, thoughtful design and meticulous finishing were what transformed a room from functional to exceptional.

Building Bailey Joinery
In 2013, I founded Bailey Joinery with one simple promise: never compromise on quality.
Like many businesses, we started with very little. Our first workshop was a shipping container, powered by an extension lead, with a single workbench and a handful of portable tools. It wasn't glamorous, but it reinforced a belief that has never changed:
“Exceptional craftsmanship isn't defined by the workshop you work in—it's defined by the standards you refuse to lower.”
As demand grew, so did the business. We moved into larger premises, invested in professional machinery and purpose-built workshop facilities before establishing our current workshop in Lingerfield, Harrogate. Over the years, we've designed, manufactured and installed hundreds of bespoke fitted furniture projects, earning the trust of homeowners who value craftsmanship, reliability and attention to detail.

Designed, built and installed by us
-
As Bailey Joinery evolved, one type of project consistently stood above the rest: luxury fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms.
-
These projects combined everything we loved about the craft—intelligent design, precision manufacturing and creating spaces that genuinely improved the way people lived in their homes. It became clear that this deserved its own identity.
That's why Atelier by Bailey Joinery was created. -
Rather than replacing Bailey Joinery, Atelier represents the specialist side of our business—a brand dedicated to beautifully designed wardrobes, dressing rooms and bespoke fitted interiors. -
The name 'Atelier' comes from the traditional French word for an artisan's workshop—a place where creativity, craftsmanship and skill come together to create something exceptional. We felt it perfectly reflected our approach.
What our clients say
Bailey Joinery built a media wall in our family room for us in Dec 2024. The quality of the work by Sam and his team was excellent from the first meeting/survey through to installation. It looks amazing and has become the centrepiece of the room. We can highly recommend Bailey Joinery; they have great attention to detail, are easy to deal with and did a great job for us.
Amazing job and lovely guys. I have used it a few times now and always loved the result.
